Sailing Weather Service is offering free downloads of historical weather for every CYC Race to Mackinac since 1990 up to 2009.

Improve your race strategy by sailing through 20 years of races. This "retrospective racing" is a technique performed by many elite offshore racers to tune the performance of their boat and advance their racing knowledge. Now you can prepare like the elite.

The SWS CHIMAC data-set is in GRIB format, and can be imported easily into marine weather and routing applications.

Sailing Weather Service is making the data below available free of charge. The free GRIB data is without any warranty and is unsupported by Sailing Weather Service. The data is intended for personal use only and redistribution is explicitly prohibited. Please credit Sailing Weather Service when publicly using this data and respect the honor system so that Sailing Weather Service can continue offering these complementary data-sets.

Want Higher Resolution?

Step up to elite level with 6x the data! The free version of the SWS CHIMAC data-set is 0.25-degree resolution with data every 6-hours. High-resolution 0.1-degree information with data every 1-hour used by elite racers is available. This higher resolution information shows in much finer detail the features that are often not visible or clearly depicted at the lower resolution.
